Rulebook for the NFFL2K

As a new owner of a franchise in this league, you may feel a little intimidated by all the additional features and options available in this league compared to any other league you have played in previously. After all, dominating your local re-draft or keeper league is one thing, in those leagues you can always count on a few things, like a few owners coming in hung over from the night before, or getting drunk at the draft, while they are following a so called fantasy expert whose magazine was purchased the night before. Now you are faced with learning all about IDP’S (Individual Defensive Players). And if you do not put the time in and learn how they operate you will get eaten alive! Now you are faced with knowing which linebacker gets pulled out on 3rd downs for a nickel back. In this league, it is an unorthodox league and the only way you prove your worth is by winning the league.. The NFFL2K is a league that  attempts to mirror the NFL, however, in trying to get the league to be exactly like the NFL it takes a certain understanding by owners that certain problems arise from time to time from a fantasy perspective, which causes the league to divert from mirroring exactly like the NFL all the time. This is why this rulebook and rules have to be modified and new things need to be adapted so we can get some semblance of a rule that mirrors or comes close to being like the NFL but still keeps the integrity of the league in tact and works with a fantasy football league as well.

It is an intricate balance between the two, and sometimes it cant always be like the NFL.

I. Pricing-What’s it going to cost you?

The cost of a franchise is $120 up front. $60 for this year, and $60 deposit next year to ensure you come back and take this league seriously. This league is and will be for the most dedicated owners in the country.. If you aren’t a Die Hard, this league isn’t for you..

II. What is the NFFL2K and what is it all about?

The NFFL2K is a 32 team, 2 copy of a NFL Player league. In other words, an owner that has Andre Johnson on his team in the AFC, an NFC team can have him.

The goal of the NFFL2K Fantasy Football League is to provide the most challenging, yet most rewarding Dynasty fantasy football experience today. The NFFL2K is committed to making owning a NFFL2K team as realistic as possible to being a real NFL owner by incorporating such challenges deciding which offensive and defensive players to start,  choosing which offensive or defensive scheme to use, a 4-3 Defensive formation (2DT, 2DL, 3LB) 3-4 Defensive formation, etc... All decisions you will have to make..

As well as other GM/Coach decisions such as:  picking up players during the free agent periods, franchise tags, trading of draft picks, etc. These are the decisions you have to make.  NFFL2K also incorporates a league maximum of a 53 man roster, or a league minimum of 45 man roster, team salary cap, and player contracts. As the General Manager of your team you will be responsible for dealing with such things as Player Holdouts, tagging Franchise players, and dealing with cap penalties for releasing a player before his contract expires.

Also..

● 8 divisions (4 in the NFC/ 4 in the AFC) of four teams  (North, South, East, and West)

● 6 Play-off Participants(in both conferences)- Four division winners, two wild card teams

● 45-53 man active rosters and an 10 man taxi squad

2 Kickers & 2 Punters MAX on active roster. For regular season. ( you can have as many as you want on T/S)

● $700 Salary cap

● 17 starters, balanced between offensive positions and defense for realism

● Balanced Offensive/IDP Scoring

● Starting lineups will be determined by NFL position

● Auction style bidding for free agents

● Manage player holdouts & retirements and apply a franchise tag to your players

● Mandatory 7 round Rookie Draft

● Contract extensions

  • 10% annual player raises for all players on your roster.

● Cash Payouts for:

Highest score by a team for the year.

-Best smack talk video

-Most points scored by a team

-Best GM as voted on by the league

-Playoff teams, the more you win, the more $$ you can win

 III. Teams and divisions

The league will consist of the 32 teams divided into 2 Conferences, The National Fantasy Football Conference and the American Fantasy Football Conference, with 4-teams in each of the 4 divisions NFFC North, South, East, and West AFFC North, South, East, and West.

This equates to 16 teams within each conference. A 2 league galaxy so to speak.

Fantasy Week

A “Week” in fantasy football is from Tuesday Midnight through the end of the Monday night game 11:59 PM. So week 2 would run from Tuesday following the Monday night game in week 1 through the final Monday night game for week 2.

NFFL2K is committed to bringing you the ultimate Dynasty Fantasy Football experience on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays that will make you want to forget other fantasy football leagues. This is not like those other easy leagues like Yahoo Fantasy Football, or ESPN, or even NFL fantasy football, this is the new bully on the block that will make you forget about the others and cry for your mama if you aren’t in game shape. This isn’t for pussies, this is for people who are true Fantasy DIEHARDS, Its time consuming and you need to do your homework!!

All owners present and future will need to read and acknowledge either through the message board or via email the:

AGREEMENT BETWEEN OWNER AND COMMISSIONER

I understand that when I join this league, there is a rulebook and there are rules that are put in place by the commissioner in an attempt to make this fantasy league the best around, and it is my obligation to read the rulebook thoroughly. I understand this league is a year round commitment and the rules and league are in depth and as an owner/Gm/coach, it is my obligation to take care of my team year round, stay on top of the latest news and developments with my players and my team, as well as stay on top of all events the commissioner passes down on the league website so that I know what is happening constantly. I also understand that it is my responsibility to give my team as much attention as any owner/Gm/coach would. It is not the commissioner, or anyone else's responsibility to take care of my team, it is mine, and mine only.   I understand that I have a voice and am entitled to my opinion regarding rules of the league, decisions made regarding the league, etc, but my opinion is just that,, my opinion.  I know that the commissioner will allow me to voice my opinions regarding a rule or decision, but his word is final regarding all decisions and I will have to either live with those decisions made by him or the co commissioner or quit the league entirely. I realize that when I pay my $120 entrance fee to this league, my joining is more about the spirit of competition and winning the Vince Lombardi Fantasy trophy and fantasy ring, than it is the money. I do not mind paying $120 to join this league knowing that if I do win the fantasy championship, most of the money will go for paying for the Vince Lombardi fantasy trophy and fantasy ring, and what ever is left over as a payout, I am fine with that as well.. I am more about winning the hardware than winning money, although I know the commissioner realizes money is good too...

The commissioner understands that I am able quit this league anytime I like, if the league is not what I like or if a decision(s) is made that I completely disagree with, and cant tolerate being in the league because of that decision(s) that was made. The commissioner understands my right to my opinion, and therefore I realize he puts in place at the end of the year a thread as to how to make the league better by offering suggestions for rule changes, rule tweeks, or completely getting rid of certain rules, in an effort to make this league the best it can be. The commissioner understands that winning money is part of joining a fantasy football league, and that is why he offers some money, but I as a future owner am still fine with winning the vince fantasy bowl trophy and ring, more so than I am with the money, and although it isnt a big payout at the end, I still realize that winning some money, is always better than winning no money.

I agree to join this league under these circumstances, and I accept the responsibility of knowing the rulebook, the intriquite rules and events in this league so that I am not confused or left behind, and I enter this league knowing that it is and can be a very complex league and not just the average run of the mill fantasy football league. I know what I am getting into coming into this league and I understand that this league is not for the faint of heart, but for real fantasy football warriors...

Chapter 2

 Rules Re-Evaluation

~From time to time, a situation may arise in which the rules, as written, may lend themselves to harming the position of the league in a way for which they were not meant to do when written.

~It is also understood that sometimes the rules that apply to the NFL can’t, in practicality, apply to fantasy football.

~ If such a situation(s) arises, the commissioner has the right to re-evaluate the league rules to determine whether the situation at hand, such that the intent of the rules when they were written can be upheld because the literal interpretation would lend itself to the contrary.

~If so, the commissioner may forgo the rules as written and apply the rule’s intent. If the commissioner comes to such a decision, he must inform the other league owners by email or by message board explaining the situation, the decision to forgo the rule in question, and the reasoning for making such a decision.

~Remember, the commissioner will change rules and keep the integrity of the league compatible to as much as the NFL does.  The growth and challenge of the league while trying to stay as close to the NFL will always take precedence.

Rulebook Gaps

In the event that a situation should arise in which no effective solution can be found due to ambiguities in the league rules, the commissioner has the right to use his own discretion to resolve the issue. A rule will then be put into action to address the concerned situation to prevent this from happening again. That decision must then be followed consistently for any situation of significant similarity for the remainder of the season.

i.i.i Rules Discussion after the season

Owners are encouraged to suggest a change to the rules by contacting the commissioner’s office. There will be discussion in a forum, chat, and poll if needed.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE COMMISSIONER/CO COMMISSIONER HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO MODIFY OR TWEAK A RULE THAT IS SUGGESTED SO THAT IT FITS THE CRITERIA SO THAT THE INTEGRITY OF THE LEAGUE IS MAINTAINED, AS WELL AS A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.

SUGGESTIONS SHOULD TRY TO FOLLOW THE NFL AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE AND PROMOTE A HEALTHY AND COMPETITIVE BALANCE FOR EVERY TEAM OWNER!

In many cases because of a heavy workload or our busy lives the rulebook doesn't get updated right away and then may get overlooked when an update does happen. Because of these situations any message board post by the commissioner that can be reasonably construed as a new rule or rule change should be considered an extension of the rulebook

Chapter 3

Franchise Ownership

I as the commissioner of this league expect a certain level of commitment and participation. If you cannot provide that, then you are playing in the wrong league. I am trying to build a league where all the members are hardcore owners.

Participation is the lifeblood of a fantasy football league; more than rivalries, even more than stats. If there is no sense of community going on between owners - no trade talk, no trash talk, no football talk - there will shortly be no NFFL2K because there will be no fun.

~An owner may not Co-Own more than one franchise at any given time, unless we cannot fill the spot.

~No refunds of league fees will be given out for the current year or the next year if paid in advance.. Paying league fees implies a commitment to run the team for the full season. It takes a lot of time and work to sell one of these franchises; I as the commissioner have to explain all the complex rules in this rulebook and it takes time to find the right owner for this league. I have put a lot of time and effort into this league and when an owner says he/she wants to play and pays me their entry fee, it is a commitment to the league for that current year.

~If an owner just ups and quits, or is expelled from the league, a new owner will be sought after immediately.. If one cannot be found, we will have a foster owner take over the team. The foster owner is not allowed to make any trades (Players and/or picks) at any time during the remainder of the season.

~ Owners are also encouraged to stay on top of the NFL happenings year-round, not only for their own enjoyment, but also for the good of the league. It goes without saying that preparedness is the key to long-term success in a fantasy league. Owners, who come to the rookie draft prepared, keep abreast of the free agent market and do their homework when it comes time to researching players and studying league rules usually experience success from year to year.

~ It is your responsibility to draft, buy FA’s, and when you do trades ensure you have your Bye weeks covered, any possible injuries to your stud players, and possible different line up formations covered. You need to build your team with depth at positions to cover these. Salary Caps are getting tougher, and it is not my fault at week 11 that you didn’t plan well enough in advance that now you need a CB and don’t have enough money for one. Planning is the key.. You will be reminded that building your team with depth was discussed and if you find yourself having an illegal lineup because you didn’t plan and don’t have enough money to get a FA, cover injury, etc IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!!

I. Team Ownership Responsibilities:

 1. Owners are responsible for knowing and following the league rules, bylaws & schedules.

 2. Owners are responsible for ensuring that their team has current contact information.

 3. Owners are responsible for responding to emails from the commissioner or other owners in a timely manner. (48 Hours)

 4. Owners are responsible for taking part in league votes and debates.

 5. Failure to respond to trade offers will not be accepted.

 6. Failure to follow or participate in any league function or schedule will not be accepted.

 7. Owners also should understand that a high level of participation is also required during the off-season.

 8. In the event that you will be away for an excessive period, you should notify the commissioner.

Chapter 4

Orphan Teams

Sometimes owners feel the need to leave for whatever reason. No harm, no foul, if you leave on good terms, good luck to you in your future endeavors. If you leave like a punk ass bitch, Good Riddance and glad your gone shit bag. Its just that simple….

The commissioner/Co Commissioner will reach out to an owner via email whom he notices is tanking, or has not been heard from, or checked in on the site (new or old) within 20 Days during the offseason, and 5 days during the season. These emails will be shared on the league site under the message board topic “Communication with owner of…..” The commissioner will show his attempt at reaching out to the owner, the owner’s response, and any further correspondence between the owner and commissioner until a decision on if the owner is in or out of the league has been established.

The commissioner/Co Commissioner will attempt to reach out to an owner during any of the above scenarios 2 times. If no response has been given by the owner, the team will automatically become orphaned. The commissioner and co commissioner do not have time to track down a non participating owner. Orphan team surrogate owner protocol will be enacted at this point.

I..When a team becomes an orphan the following will apply.

~If an orphaned team is in the bottom half of the league or is otherwise uncompetitive due to age, Injuries, etc. a surrogate owner may be allowed to play in the league without the franchise fee for the remainder of the season, BUT he or she will be expected to pay league fees going forward.

~ If a team is abandoned mid-year, a surrogate owner may be allowed to play in the league for free, BUT he or she will be expected to pay league fees going forward … If a surrogate owner is not found and the orphan team plays a commissioners team, the other commissioner will propose a starting lineup and the other commissioner will honor that. If that team wins any prize money, then those winnings will be put into the FOLLOWING year’s prize pool as extra winnings.

~ In the case that there are multiple vacant franchises, replacement owners will have a choice as to which franchise he or she would like to manage and operate among those vacated franchises based on first come, first serve. .

~ The Commissioner may act as a proxy for another franchise upon request for a short period of time due to the nature of the request.  Any franchise that is currently controlled by the League Commissioner for any reason will not be allowed to participate in any transactions, to advance to the playoffs, nor be allowed to win any prize payouts.

Replacement General Manager – Contract Amnesty

When a replacement General Manager takes over a vacant team, the new owner will have 72 hours to notify the commissioner if he/she will take the option of applying a contract amnesty.  The amnesty will consist of voiding up to 2 contracts on his/her roster, which means 1-2 players are dropped and will become a free agent without salary cap penalty.

Chapter 5

League Payout

I. Entry Fee and deadline

  • The league will utilize Leaguesafe for handling league dues. The deadline for all entry fees will be determined by the commissioner.  Owners that do not have their entry fee paid no later than 2 weeks after the commissioner sets the deadline, will have their franchises placed on the orphan list to be sold to a new owner unless an owner has set up an arrangement with the commissioner prior to the deadline. If an owner has not been on the site, new or old in 30 Days or more, that owner has 24 hours past the due date to pay his/her entry fee or that team becomes an orphan.

II. ALL ENTRY FEE MONEY IS NON-REFUNDABALE

  • No refunds of league fees will be given out. Paying league fees implies a commitment to run the team for the full season. It takes a lot of time and work to sell one of these franchises, I as the commissioner have to explain all the rules in this rulebook and find an owner if somebody decides to bail out. I put a lot of time and effort into this league and when an owner says he/she wants to play and pays me their entry fee, it is a commitment to the league for that current year.

The commissioner will do league payouts. Payout for a League Trophy is mandatory. *= league payouts subject to change based on possible increase in pricing of the NFFL2K trophy, MFFL site cost, or other expenditures that fall under price increases. *

  • Ways teams/owners can win throughout the season are:

  • Highest scoring team for the year. (Triple headers and double headers count for 1 score.)

  • Best Smack Talk video

  • -Highest score in a game.

  • -Most points scored by a team

  • -Best GM as voted on by the league

  • -Playoff teams, the more you win, the more $$ you can win

  • -Division winners

  • -League Champion

  • -Runner up

The commissioner will set up the cash payouts for each category as well as the league champion, runner up, and trophy and create a message board link showing the breakdown and accounting for all of the money in the league pot.

1. Each franchise in this league will maintain an in-season active roster in accordance to the minimum and maximum players listed in the tables below.

2. It is the owner’s decision on how many players to carry at each position.

3. During the off-season (Day after the League Championship till the cut downs) there will be 75 max roster size (45/53). The last sunday in August all roster must be at 53 MAX active roster.

4. All rookies drafted will count against any roster size until Taxi Squad day (see Taxi squad chapter for more information).

5. The final cut down date for rosters will be determined by the commissioner and posted on the league calendar. On final cut down day, each owner must designate his or her taxi squad players.

Illegal Rosters

In the event that a roster becomes illegal because of the acquisition of a free agent or for any other reason… That owner will be penalized.  No transactions may be made until that roster is made legal, and all transactions that were made will be reversed.

Examples of Illegal rosters include but my not be limited to:

1. Exceeding the Salary Cap Limit.

2. Exceeding the limit for # of players allowed on a roster (53).

3. Ineligible players on Taxi Squad.

4. Drafting Players during the rookie draft without the proper finances.

5. Picking up ineligible FAs. (Players who are not on an NFL team)

Because some league rules cannot be enforced on the website, teams are responsible for knowing and following all league rules, even if the website allows illegal roster moves to occur.

Examples

FAs: You will see players listed on their old teams, even though they were released three months earlier. It is YOUR job to know if that player is on that team or not.  If I can take the time to find the violation, you can take the 30 seconds to Google to see if that player is still on the roster. Yes I know the site lists some players that are not on teams, but there is a reason we do not allow teams to pick up FAs that are not yet in the NFL. It just makes sense

ANY PLAYER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CONTRACT ASSIGNED TO THEM THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SEASON KICK OFF GAME ON THURSDAY NIGHT, CAN NOT START. IF A TEAM DOES NOT HAVE A PLAYER SIGNED, THE 1ST GAME THE PLAYER PLAYS FOR HIS NFL TEAM, AND HE IS NOT UNDER CONTRACT TO THE FANTASY TEAM, THAT PLAYER WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE TEAMS ROSTER WITH  THE PLAYERS SALARY COUNTING TOWARDS THE SALARY CAP FOR THAT YEAR.

% SALARY CAP PUNISHMENT FOR _ YEARS

How does a % Salary cap punishment work?

This is an example only, not the standard.

Simple, if the salary cap is $700 and I decide to give you a 3% salary cap punishment for 3 years, I will deduct $21 from your cap, bringing it to $679 that you will have for the remainder of the year and the next 2 years

**ALSO**You will be responsible for keeping your team below the cap. So, if a cap hit is applied, that means, you will need to get rid of players that are on your team to get under the new cap hit.  If you leave the league, the new owner will not have to bare the brunt of a Salary cap punishment.

Taxi Squad: You are able to move players up and down from the taxi squad until the final roster designation date, but at least once per season, somebody will move somebody up or down after the season has started. You have 24 hours to make your decision on if he is on active roster or Taxi squad. If he is moved back down after the 24 hours, you LOSE THAT PLAYER AND HE GOES INTO THE FA POOL..

Chapter 7

Taxi Squads

Overview

In the NFL, every team maintains some kind of practice squad (The site calls it the taxi squad). These players are young players who need time to develop before they can become regular contributors to their NFL team. Since fantasy football is based on scoring points, a player on the active roster should contribute points on a weekly basis.

Usually rookies, especially ones drafted in the lower rounds are not immediate fantasy point producers and may require a season or two to fully develop into productive fantasy football players. The Taxi squad feature in this league allows owners to maintain ownership of these players and provides owners the opportunity for these players to develop without the players occupying an active roster spot. This in essence gives owners a mini farm system and helps to maintain the use of the rookie draft as a key component to building and maintaining a winning dynasty franchise.

Taxi Squad Specifics

 •         The practice squad is comprised of a minimum of zero players and a maximum of 10 rookies.

 •         Players may be on your taxi squad for up to 3 full seasons.

 •         The deadline for announcing your taxi squad players will be set by the commissioner.

 •          Players on the taxi squad are not eligible to start a game until they are moved to the active roster.

 •         Once a player is on the active roster (Beginning  1 second after taxi squad designations are due), he may not be placed on any taxi squad again.

 •         Traded players may be put onto the taxi squad only if they were on the other teams’ taxi squad before the trade.

•         Once a rookie who was drafted, and placed on the team's taxi squad reaches the end of his ORC, he will be moved to the active roster.

•      Players waived from your taxi squad will not be hit with a Salary cap punishment.

•         Players that are wrongfully placed on the TS will have a 24 hour window after the commissioner is informed and posts the violation on the message board. After the 24hr window has expired, the player will be released from that team’s roster and placed in the FA pool.

•         All taxi squad salaries will count 10% against the cap/ their contract years will not.

  • Taxi squad players salaries will count 100% towards the salary cap, once they are brought up from the taxi squad.

  • Rookies that were not drafted are allowed on the taxi squad as longs as they have the rookie (R) next to their name, and the team’s taxi squad is not full.

Only Rookies and undrafted free agents with the (R) designation  will be placed on the Taxi Squad during their rookie year and can stay there a maximum of 3 years.. No other players will occupy the taxi squad. UFA's are players who are picked up during Auction style bidding periods BEFORE the season starts. Any rookie drafted after the season starts will be cut at seasons end.

  • No first round Draft picks will be placed on a teams Taxi squad.

    II. TAXI SQUAD (TS) CLAIMS:

  • Owners may claim a player on an opposing teams taxi squad. The compensation for claiming a player on an opposing teams taxi squad will be an original round draft pick in which the  player was picked, plus a round lower that the player was picked.

A team that is claiming the TS player may give up earlier round draft picks than what is technically required if they do not have the exact round of draft picks available.

Example: Player (A) was picked up in the 2nd round of the draft, so to put in a taxi squad claim for Player (A), you would have to give up a 2nd rounder which is the original round draft pick and a 1st rounder , a round lower than what that player was picked, to get that player.

Once a team claims a player, that player will be put on the claiming team's active roster. The claimed player will be ineligible to be placed back on the taxi squad..

Only rookies on a teams taxi squad from the 2015 season and beyond may be claimed.

The following is the process for Taxi squad claims..

  •  The team owner activating/signing TS players from opposing franchises will pay the price of 2 draft picks to the franchise losing the TS Player; 1 draft pick from the same round the player was drafted, 1 draft pick from the round higher than the player was drafted.

Current year, next year, or the year after next years set of picks may be used for activating/signing DTS players from opposing franchises.

~ Starting in 2017, The commissioner will set a date when Teams can start activating TS players from opposing franchises. The taxi squad claim will last all year round and have no end date.

~ To activate TS players from opposing franchises, the team owner must create a new message board post to the league declaring the transaction, listing the teams/player/draft picks involved, so all owners are notified.

  •

  • < >Please note that if a team owns multiple picks in the same round, they need to specify which one they are surrendering (their choice) in the message board thread. If a team that is "purchasing" the new player owns multiple picks in the appropriate rounds, that team should specify which of these picks they wish to trade away.***

If you make a claim before the upcoming season's draft, you will use the current year's draft

  • The Commissioner will execute the transaction as a trade if the picks are valid, if all league fees for the pick years are fully paid and if all roster requirements are met.

  •

  • Undrafted Rookies get the comp as a 7th rounder - i.e. 6th and 7th round pick

Example of how the transaction will take place...

~Post title - TS activation Jerick McKinnon

    San Diego

I would like to TS activate Jerick McKinnon of the Detroit taxi squad.

    Drafted pick 4.24 by Detroit
Offer 2015 or 2016 3rd of the San Diego

2015 or 2016 4th of the San Diego

Then ensure that your Dues are paid because I will be doing that right after ensuring you have the draft picks.

Then you need to ensure you have a roster spot available because I will be doing that as well... If all checks out. I will process the claim as a trade.

 Chapter 8

Injured Reserve

Overview:

The NFL releases an injury report on Friday; the MFL site also posts the NFL injury report which lists the player’s ability to participate in practice that week. This roughly translates to their ability to play in that week's NFL game, but note that these typically change from Wednesday through Saturday, so my advice is to pay attention to developments on daily basis during the days leading up to Sunday.

·        Each team will have Limitless IR spots.

·     If you place a player on IR, his salary will only count 50% towards the cap while he is on IR. Once that player is off  IR,his salary will be back to 100%

·      For a player to eligible for IR, they must be on the IR in the NFL. The PUP list is not considered NFL IR as players can be activated from mid-season. You must wait until MFL lists the player on IR.

·      Teams will be eligible to and must take a player off I.R 24 hours after the NFL team has withdrawn the player from their I.R.

·      During the off-season, players are not eligible for I.R know matter how devastating the injury maybe.

·      Once a player is on the injured reserve list, the team may acquire a free agent to fill the empty spot on the main roster (In accordance with acquisition rules).

  • The only way a player is eligible for IR is when MFFL declares that player on IR with the red IR designation next to their name

 Chapter 9

Submitting Lineups

Overview

This is a highly competitive league, this is not one of your local leagues where you have your commissioner fill in the line-up for you or start players that are not playing. It is important to me, and most owners to play to win each and every game. If you do not or cannot follow these guidelines for whatever reason, you are playing in the wrong league. Under extreme circumstances will the commissioner or co-commissioners set your lineup for you, but like I said, the circumstances must be extreme for us to do it.

Starting lineup Requirements

·      In the case of an emergency or an owner being unable to make changes, that team can attempt to email or text message the Commissioner directly with a required change, ensuring that the email or text is time/stamped prior to the starting line up deadline. However, if the commissioner is unable to receive it on time, or act upon it (be aware of time zones), or is otherwise unable to make the change, then the owner has no other recourse. Please note that the commissioner is not obligated to make changes, but rather will often try to help out an owner that is otherwise unable to make the changes themselves. In all cases, these should be very rare.

·      Owners may not, under any circumstances, start any injured players (Players declared out) or bye week players. We have 45-53 man rosters limits for a reason.

·      The deadline for naming starters is kickoff of that player’s game. Partial lineups will not be allowed. If an owner does not submit a starting lineup in regular season or in the play-offs, the commissioner will start a lineup for that owner, but the owner will immediately be removed.

  • Acquiring NFL FA's in in season blind bidding, or FCFS is not allowed. Starting a player who is an NFL Free Agent is not allowed.

    Lineup Deadlines

Lineup deadlines are per day. Lineup deadlines are at kickoff of the FIRST game of that day. Here is an example:

    • Thursday game kicks off at 8:30PM, so the deadline for Thursday’s game is 8 :30 PM

    • Sunday has games at 1PM, 4PM, and 8PM, so the deadlines for ALL of Sunday’s games are those designated times.

    • Monday has a game at 8:30 PM and one week where two games is played, so the deadlines for Monday’s game (s) are those designated times.

Be careful to make sure you have enough players starting, especially if you are waiting until the last second to start players. It is always a good idea to set your lineup early, because you can always go back and change it.

FA will be provided during all 16 weeks of the regular season where you may be allowed to get "filler" player(s) if needed.

The FA schedule will be as follows:

**WE WILL HAVE AN AUCTION OPEN ALL YEAR DURING THE SEASON UNTIL PLAYOFFS BECAUSE PLAYERS WILL ALWAYS GO FOR MARKET VALUE AND NOT BE PICKED UP SO CHEAP.**

FCFS Will be opened up at the end of the year Right up to the NFFL2K Super bowl.

    Transactions Made on the Website

    1. If you make a mistake, you must email (Email the entire league/post on the message board) within 15 minutes of the transaction timestamp on the website for it to be rolled back.

    2. It is the responsibility of the owner to verify his transactions before and after submittal.

You can not do any of the following. Doing the following will result in punishment at the end of the year:

  • Fail to submit a starting lineup

  • -Start a player that is not active on a NFL roster,

  • -Start a player that is suspended

  • -Start a player that is on the IR

There will be no more backup players. Choose your talent wisely when you submit your lineups.

If a player has an “O” next to their name on there "Submit lineup" page,  it means that player is declared OUT for his game.. I understand that sometimes players get hurt during warm ups, or during practice, and an owner may not be aware of what happened to him after submitting his/her lineup.

Therefore, any player that has been declared out for more than 36 hours ahead of their scheduled kickoff and an owner still starts that player, that lineup will be declared illegal. The time stamp on any Rotoworld article posted on “my players news” on the MFL  site will be used.

If you submit a player in your lineup that is declared as out 1 hour to 36 hours after you submit your lineup, Your lineup will count. If you submit your lineup and that player is declared out 1 second after hour 36 , your lineup will not count.

EVERY EFFORT MUST BE MADE TO SUBMIT THE MOST COMPLETE AND CHALLENGING LINE UP.

Chapter 10

Trades

 Overview

Trading is a very important facet of this league. As a dynasty league format, this league is set up to be in existence for the long haul. This isn’t your “One and done” league where you get to throw everyone back in a pile at the end of the year. Since you keep your players from year to year, trading is a very important aspect in attempting to acquire new talent from other owners. Remember that talent is not restricted to just players. Draft picks can be traded throughout the season.

  • There will be a mandatory 7 round rookie draft.

•   Trading will be allowed between teams that are paid in full for the season.

  • Can not trade a player that is on the IR
  • Can not trade player or players that have played that week even if you didnt put them in your lineup

    •         Any trade, which causes a team to violate starting lineup requirements in the absence of other roster moves, will be rejected.

  • •     Trade deadline extended to the Tuesday before the start of week 12 and right before the playoff picture is clear

    •         The commissioner will process trades from Tuesday Midnight through Thursday 5PM. Then Again Friday Midnight through Sunday 1245PM.

  • Players who have played in the Thursday night game, can not be traded until the following Tuesday Midnight. An attempt to do so will constitute a salary cap punishment.

•         Any trade that involves future draft picks:

  • If you are TRADING FUTURE DRAFT PICKS you must be paid in advance...

  • If you are RECEIVING FUTURE DRAFT PICKS you do not have to be paid in advance.

•           Trades can involve players, draft picks and conditional draft picks. Owners are responsible for ensuring trades do not put their teams over the roster limits

•         You may not make any trade proposals during RFA, Franchise or Transition periods. This also includes discussing parameters of the bids that concerns theses players.

•         Owners should be responsible for responding to trade offers from other owners. You should check your trade offers EVERYTIME you log onto the league website. If the offer is not acceptable… reject it immediately.

Trading Future Draft picks

Teams can only trade future draft picks if they have paid both the current years and following years league dues!  The entry fee must be submitted to LEAGUESAFE and showed Paid, before I will accept the trade.  The reason for this is that a team could go “Broke” by trading away the future in order to win in the current season. If they are in the league for the long-term, this is an okay strategy. But if they drop out after that year, it leaves the league with a “Weak” team to have to find a new owner for the next season.

As you can tell from reading this it is not easy finding hardcore owners that can handle this league. I understand that this is frustrating to a lot of owners that don’t want to deposit monies until AFTER a trade is agreed to, but none of us want to deal with nagging a team to pay or enforcing severe penalties, and this eases the administration significantly. It is also vital to the leagues success that this happens and  I am not forced to find new owners every year. The success and integrity of the league is of the utmost importance.

Trade Errors

The commissioner has 24 hours to approve all trades; you should use this to correct accidental acceptance or offers of a trade. It is the responsibility of the owners to contact the commissioner to correct accidental acceptance of a trade. There is no recourse to revoke a trade once the commissioner has approved it, except as provided above.

Conditional Trades

Conditional trades (Based only on performance) are allowed. For example, Team a trades Jamal Charles to Team B for a 1st & 4thround picks in 2016. The 4th round pick is conditional on certain performance-related variables that may be met by Charles.

1.  If he reaches 0-1500 all-purpose yards, the pick is a 4th.

2.  If he reaches 1501-1700 all-purpose yards, the pick becomes a 3rd.

3.  If he reaches 1701-1900 all-purpose yards, the pick becomes a 2nd.

·      To ensure they are available, all picks involved in a conditional trade are frozen. The commissioner will keep track of the conditions and award the team the agreed upon compensation once said conditions are met.

·      Conditions can be tied to team performance as well. For example Team A could make a trade condition dependent upon whether they win their division, win a playoff game, or win the championship.

·      When a conditional trade is made, every detail of it will need to be sent to the commissioner’s office, and all parties involved will need to agree to it. It will be the responsibility of the owner to email the commissioner the conditions for his records to reflect on for the next year when adjusting draft picks, etc.

Chapter 11

Free Agency (FA)

Overview

A fantasy Football auction is something that has just started to hit fantasy football over the past five years. This will be our 1st year using it and quite possibly from here out.

·      Fantasy Football auction is a method of adding talent to your roster by competing with other teams for the services of players not on any roster by submitting bids of a proposed salary. The auction style is the equivalent of a team bringing in a "Star" player and showing his around the facilities, and trying to hammer out a contract. As the auction bids come pouring in from other teams, this is the equivalent of teams sending the "star" players agent contract proposals while he is on a visit to another teams facillity. If you remember when Mario Williams was a FA and was visiting the Bills. They were offering more than any other team, and stated they would match the highest offer while Mario was on the FA tour.  The highest overall valued salary will win the services of the player.

·      A player is eligible for Fantasy Football Auction if he is on an active NFL roster or taxi squad and is not eligible for the rookie draft (Rookie draft eligibility only applies if your current year rookie draft has not been completed. No owner may auction bid on a player that is a Free Agent in the NFL and is not on a team at the time of blind bidding or Auction style bidding. Undrafted Rookie Free Agents that sign with teams after the NFL draft, are not eligible to be bid on in the NFFL2K free agency, if any NFFL2K free agency period is or does happen before the NFL draft or during the NFL draft. Any Undrafted rookie Free Agents that sign with a team after the NFL draft will be eligible to be drafted in the NFFL2K. An exception to that rule is if a player has been signed by another team before the NFL rookie draft but has the (R) designator next to his name, that player may be bid on (The Duron Carter Rule)

·  NFL veterans that are free agents are not eligible to be bid on until they sign with an NFL Team. (Sometimes the MFL database still lists players on their old teams.  It is your responsibility to double check before you bid on somebody. If I can take the time to find the violation, you can take the time to see what team the player is playing on.)

·      FA will begin and end on a date specified by the commissioner. First Come First Serve (FCFS) will be the choice of free agent acquisition during the playoffs, right up until the Fantasy Superbowl. After that, there will not be anymore FA until the next season.

·      Teams may only bid the amount of salary they have in cap space. So only bid the exact amount of money you are willing to give up.

·      Players signed during the season through Auction bidding or FCFS will receive 1- year contract and be returned to the FA pool at the end of the season with the exception of 1 player that may be resigned. The salary will be given back to the team at the end of the season.

A 1 year player picked up in season, is eligible to be given a contract by the team the player ends the season with. The 1 year player must be given what his end of year total point fair market value price plus $4.00 per contract year you sign him for.

Example: Player A is picked up in season. At the end of the year Player A's total points is 100.00. His Fair market value price is $10.00 (move the decimal point to the left 1 space).. Now, if you just want to sign him to the league minimim contract years which is 2, it would cost you $18 . $10 fair market value price plus $4.00per year for a total of 2 years is $8. $10 + $8 = $18..

Restricted Free Agent.

A restricted Free agent (RFA) is any player that has completed his ORC (Original Rookie Contract).  If a player was cut at any point during his ORC he then becomes a UFA and will never be eligible for RFA again. Once that players contract is up, the original owner will have first rights to resign that player at his last year's total point value. Example, If Tom Brady's total point value for the last year of his contract was 324.50 points, the owner will have the choice of signing Tom Brady for $32.45 for a contract no less than 2 years and no more than 5 years.

Unrestricted Free Agents.

Any player whose contract has ended that wasn't on their ORC is considered an Unrestricted Free Agent. When a player reaches the end of his contract an owner will have 2 options. The owner can let the player walk and that player will be put into the MFFL Auction and other owners will be allowed to bid on that players service, The other option is the owner can place the franchise tag on the UFA not allowing him to get to free agency.

Classification of RFA and UFA changed going into 2017.. Reasons for the rule change:

1. You will still have total control over a player you draft for 9-11 years.  This is more than twice the average career of an NFL player.

3-5 years for ORC + 5 years for RFA contract + 1 year of franchise eligibility.

And that doesn't include the right you'd have to win the player as an UFA.

2.  This will likely increase the quality of players that hit FA.  Which is good for anyone trying to rebuild and not wanting to get trade raped constantly.

III. Position Changes

If a player gets his position changed by MFFL, you will not be afforded an opportunity to change him. You will have to make the adjustments.

NOTE: NFL positions are defined by the roster designations Listed on the teams’ official game books and MFL.

Chapter 12

 Salary Cap

I. Salary Cap

Each team will have a $700 hard cap.

·      During the season we use a hard cap, what this means is under no circumstance can you go over the cap. This includes Trades.

·      Violation of the CAP: GMs are responsible for staying within their cap. Teams that exceed their cap for any reason, whether due to a winning bid or trade will have that winning bid/trade voided and will be penalized. GMs will have 24 hours from the moment they exceeded the cap to adjust their rosters to comply with the salary cap rules prior to being penalized.

Chapter 13–

Player Contracts/Salary cap punishments

Contract Basics

A player’s base contract salary is equal to the winning bid. Contracts end when either they are cut or run their full length depending on when the player was cut.

Rookie salaries are set based on the pick used to select them. Please ensure that you have enough money to sign your rookies to their contracts. The DRAFT IS MANDATORY!!! There are salary cap penalties for cutting rookie players.

Specifics:

Player Raises

Every Player will get a 10% pay raise that is on your roster the day before the First day of Free Agency. The league season will try to coincide with the NFL league season in everything we do. Do not get league season and game season confused. With league season, (usually March through August) that is when the commissioner allows trading, FA bidding, etc.. Game season is the start of the NFL Games (Usually around September through January)

1. The lengths of the individual contracts are at the discretion of the owner, but all lengths must be in whole numbers. 2-5 years unless you get a player in Blind bidding during the game season or FCFS during the game season, then it is 1 year.

2.  The MINIMUM contract length is (2) years and the MAXIMUM contract length is five (5) years.

3. There are no restrictions to the number of players on your roster signed to maximum contracts or minimum contracts.

4. Contract years run from the day they are assigned until the end of that calendar year.

5. All contracts for any type of bidding must be posted on the message board that the commissioner creates. All Owners are responsible for having all of their players under contract 1 day before the NFL season starts. ANY PLAYER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CONTRACT ASSIGNED TO THEM THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SEASON KICK OFF GAME ON THURSDAY NIGHT, CAN NOT START THAT PLAYER. IF A TEAM DOES NOT HAVE A PLAYER SIGNED, THE 1ST GAME THE PLAYER PLAYS FOR HIS NFL TEAM, AND HE IS NOT UNDER CONTRACT TO THE FANTASY TEAM, THAT PLAYER WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE TEAMS ROSTER WITH A 2% Salary CAP penalty..

II. Player Holdouts

At the end of the NFL regular season (Week17); any player whose end of the year stats (total points) place the player in the top 10 at the player’s position, and they have completed the 2nd year of any contract, they are considered a . Holdout salaries will be based on the average of the top-10 highest paid players at that player’s position.

A veteran who has finished 2 years of his contract, is eligible for holdout. A rookie, while still in his ORC will not be a holdout.

To resolve a player’s holdout, the owner has three options:

1. Accept the new contract demands. The owner may choose to accept the player’s new contract demands. The player then signs a new contract  The player will then have  a salary equal to the average salary of the top-10 highest paid players at the player's position.

Note: You may sign the player to a new contract or leave it as is.

2. Waive the player. The owner may choose to release the player. Releasing the player from the contract will cause a salary cap penalty at the current salary.

3. The player may stay on the roster until you pay the hold out salary OR A DATE DETERMIND BY THE COMMISSIONER. Once the date the commissioner sets comes, that player will be put on your Taxi squad and not allowed to be moved up until the end of the year. At the end of the year the owner must either cut the player (With cap hit penalty) or give him his holdout salary.

Note: If a player is entering the last year of a contract and is up for an extension and also has the holdout tag applied to him, the salary will always be the higher of the two.

Note: If you trade a player that has a holdout tag, the holdout tag goes with the player, and the gaining team has 48 hours to sign the holdout player to a holdout contract. If the gaining team extends the holdout player, the holdout is erased and the holdout player can be eligible for another holdout starting with the next NFFL2K season. If a holdout player is traded with 1 year left on his contract, and a contract extension is not reached, after 48 hours, the player will void the contract and will be allowed to be a FA the next season.

 4. Kickers and Punters will not be considered holdouts..

III. Career Ending Injury, NFL Retirement and Player Death

If a player you own is placed on the NFL’s injured reserve list for a career –ending injury and you release him, you will incur no Salary cap punishment.

If a player who retires, comes back, he is automatically a FA.

IV. Contract Extensions

1.   Once a player's contract expires an owner will have a chance to resign his player only if said player is a RFA, meaning he was signed to a 3-5 year contract.

 V. Extending a Contract

A player may have his contract extended when he is traded. An owner who acquires a player will be allowed to extend that players contract for a maximum amount that totals 5 years total contract years.

All owners extending  traded player will have 72 hours to extend the player or the player will have to serve out the rest of his contract that was originally given.

To extend a traded player, the owner must cut and paste the transaction of the trade on the "Extending traded players" message board post, along with how many years you would like to extend him and the total salary of the extension.

Example. If Tom Brady is traded and he has 2 years left out of a 5 year deal, the owner wants to extend him to the maximum of a 5 year contract. The owner must put down how many years TO EXTEND HIS CURRENT YEAR CONTRACT, so the new owner will put on the message board " Please extend Tom Brady 3 years" that tells me you want him to have a new 5 year contract where he is serving 1 year out of 5 once the new contract is approved. Extending a traded player is an additional $9 per year to the players salary.

Example. Tom Brady who is on his 4th year of a 5 year contract gets traded to owner A and Brady's salary is $17 per year. Owner A wants to extend Brady 4 years to give him the maximum 5 year contract. Brady's new salary will be $53 per year plus the 10% annual player raise. If Brady is a holdout and the same scenario is given, whichever higher the salary will be awarded to Brady.

  1. Salary cap Hit..

  2. 1 year cap hits only!!. With the automatic increase of 15% to players salaries every year, 1 year cap hits will be the norm.

  3. How it will work: The 1 year cap hit will be calculated as follows:

35% of the salary X’s how many years are left on the players contract.

Besides the challenging strategy of determining who to play, pickup, trade, etc to better your team in fantasy football, managing your salary cap is another challenging strategy.

MFFL incorporates a relatively easy salary cap system to use as a commissioner

With the MFFL salary cap system, this is how it will run for all owners now, and eliminate ANY problems mentioned above.. Any player that is dropped, the team will incur a 35% cap hit for each year that player has a contract for..

I.I. How to read the Website’s Roster Page Info on Contracts

A player’s contract info is as follows.

“Years remaining” is the number of full years that the player still has remaining. Unless extended a player’s contract lasts anywhere between 2-5 years.

“Contract Total” is the total length of the contract.

The “Contract Title” describes what type of contract the player is under.

Examples below:

UFA: This means that the player will be an Unrestricted Free Agent when this contract expires after 2 years. UFA's are free agents after 2 years and the existing owner loses all rights to this player once his contract has been served, unless the owner wishes to franchise tag the player.  This designation allows owners to bid on their players through the MFFL Auction style. If you lose the player, you do not get compensated like with RFA.

RFA: This means the player will be eligible for Restricted Free Agency when his contract expires.

ORC: This means the player is playing under his Original Rookie Contract and is not eligible for Holdouts. When this contract expires, he will be eligible for a new contract based on the last years point value. He is eligible for the new Performance increase.

FRAN: The player has had the franchise tag applied.

 Chapter 14

 Playoffs

Overview

Our league uses a playoff format that resembles the format used for one conference in the NFL. In the 32-team, 6 total playoff participants  from each conference qualify each season for a chance at the league championship Each team will receive a seed from 1-6 based on how they qualify for the playoffs. Division winners and 2 wild card winners

Below is the tiebreakers the NFFL2K will use in determining playoff teams.

These have been modified from the NFL Playoff tiebreakers.

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. (Best Division win loss record)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. (Best Conference win loss record)
  4. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed (Highest points scored with least amount of points scored against)
  5. Coin toss

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. (Best Division win loss record)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. (Best Conference win loss record)
  4. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  5. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. (Highest points scored with least amount of points scored against)
  6. Coin toss

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM

If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

  1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
  2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. (Best Conference win loss record)
  3. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. (Highest points scored with least amount of points scored against)
  4. Coin toss.

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

  1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step
  2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  4. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  5. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  6. Coin toss

To summarize,

Overall Winning percentage (Record)

Head to head record

Divisional winning percentage

Conference Winning percentage

Total points scored

Coin Toss

The following are some tie breakers the NFL has that this league will not use, simply because it is too time consuming to figure out, the simpler the better.

  • Strength of victory.

  • Strength of schedule

  • Best net points in common games.

  • Best net points in all games.

  • Best net touchdowns in all games

  • The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants

  • Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

  • Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

  • Best net points in conference games.

  • Best net points in all games.

  • Best net touchdowns in all games

NFFL2K Toilet Bowl

The NFFL2K will have 1 toilet bowl tournament. The NFFL2K toilet bowl participants will consist of 6 teams who finished the season with less than .500 records.

The Toilet Bowl Tie Breakers will be used if 2 (or more) less than .500 teams qualify for the toilet bowl.

Those Tie Breakers are as follows:

  • Worst Division Record

  • Worst Conference Record

  • Worst Non Conference Record

  • Total Points scored (lowest)

A team can’t be in the Toilet Bowl 2 consecutive years UNLESS they have shown improvement from the previous year but are still below .500.

If there ever comes a time where there are less than 6 teams with a less than .500 record, the team(s) with the closest record to .500 will be put into the NFFL2K toilet bowl until each conference has 6 toilet bowl teams in the toilet bowl.

The Toilet Bowl Champion is competing for a cash prize only.

Toilet Bowl Teams WILL BE SEEDED BASED ON DRAFT PICK POSITON AND WILL NOT BE RESEEDED AFTER EVERY WEEK OF PLAY.  Owners will know who their opponents are every week until a champion is crowned.

Chapter 15

Franchise Player

Overview

 Franchise Player Specifics

·      Each team is allowed to use 1 Franchise Tag

·      Each Team announces their tagged players on the link that will be created to coincide with the date list on the calendar; along with the required qualifying offer they are making for the player.

·      This qualifying offer will not count towards the team’s current salary cap for the duration of the blind bidding period.

·      Once a player has been tagged, he will be released into the FA Pool where he will be eligible to be bid upon by all owners that have the required Compensation.

·     The team owner has the option of matching the winning bid and retaining the player, or may let the player go and receive compensation from the team with the winning bid. After the deadline has passed and no other team wants to offer a contract to the franchise player, the original team has 2 options:

  1. Sign the player to his franchise tag for 1 year

  2. Release the player into Free Agency without a cap hit.

·      A franchised tagged player may negotiate with other teams, but if he signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to a 1st round draft pick and a 3rd round draft pick.

-The owning team may only franchise tag a player 2 times.

·      The owner that has designated the player to be tagged may not lift the tag but will have the right to not sign him to a contract by the deadline, the player then would become a FA.

-   During the Franchise Tag period, the trading of draft picks will not be allowed until the Franchise tag period is over. This is to ensure that owners do not attempt to cheat the system by trading higher round draft picks for lower round draft picks, in an attempt to get a player.

Minimum Qualifying Offers (Auction style)

·      The qualifying offer for Franchise Players must equal the average of the top 5 salaries at their position. The qualifying offers will not count against the salary caps until the owner accepts or declines the final offer.

Compensation

·      Draft choice compensation for a Franchise tagged player is a 1st and 3th round pick.

·      Only teams with the required draft choice compensation are eligible to bid on tagged players.

·      To bid on two different Franchise Tagged players would require 2 first round and 2 3rd round picks over the next 2 years.

·      The team that tendered the Franchise player must let the league and commissioner know their intentions to sign, match, or decline, on the message board by the deadline posted on the calendar.

Chapter 16

Compensatory picks

In the NFL and in trying to keep with the NFL, there are compensatory picks given out to NFL teams. These picks handed out by the NFL, awards comp. picks to teams who lost major players through FA, and yes they even give dominate teams comp. picks also. The NFFL2K is no different, however, in trying to maintain a competitive league the NFFL2K will give owners something to play for and it helps with parity in the league. There are 2 ways a team can get comp picks, they are:

-Finishing with a below .500 (Less than 8-8 record)

-Losing a Player through free agency where that player was on your team, but you refused to sign him, and he signed with another team.

I. Losing Record

Compensatory draft picks will be awarded to the teams who have below a .500 record.  (Less than 8-8 record)

The purpose of the compensatory picks is to give every opportunity/hope to owners, regardless of how bad it may seem, & to assist in turning their franchise around.

-All compensatory picks are awarded at the end of the 4th round. The  picks will be awarded as follows per conference:

~ 4th round compensatory picks – Any team finishing with a record below, not at .500, will receive an additional 4th round pick starting at the 17th pick of the 4th round of the NFFL2K Draft.

COMPENSATORY PICKS CAN NOT BE TRADED STARTING IN 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!

II. Loss of Player(s) via Free Agency

The next way to get compensatory picks in the NFFL2K is when you have a free agent who you decide not to sign after his contract expires, and that player met a certain point criteria the following year.

Below is the point threshold and the compensatory picks to match.

Points                                                                                               Comp. Pick

225 or higher..                                                                                            3rd

190-225                                                                                                     4th

***A player's retirement, death, career ending injury WILL not constitute a team getting a compensatory draft pick at any time.**

Chapter 17

Rookie Draft

Overview

The rookie draft is the single most important event of the year in fantasy football. For dynasty leagues this is the most effective way to add new talent to a franchise and make or break that team for seasons to come. Like the NFL draft, there is much preparation and in depth analysis of the players and whether they will fit into the team’s system properly. The draft consists of 7 rounds. Each pick has a dollar amount attached thereby fixing the starting salary for whoever is drafted in that slot. The rookie pay scale is found on the league website.

All rookie contract lengths will consist of the following years in correlation to the round drafted.

  • 1st Rounder Draft Picks will receive 5 year (ORC) contracts.

  • 2nd Round Draft Picks and 3rd Round Draft Picks will receive 4 year (ORC) contracts.

  • 4th Round Draft Picks through 7th round Draft picks will receive 3 year (ORC) contracts.

The league commissioner will set the date and time of the rookie draft for the league.

    Draft Basics

    •       For round 1.. (**For 2016, and beyond depending how 2016 turns out**) Each team will have 20 minutes to make their draft selection. I will be doing/co hosting a radio show for our draft for the 1st round. I will ask owners to text/email me their pick, or any blockbuster draft day trades. This will help get owners in the fantasy spirit and also get owners to start participating more.

Rookie salaries go into effect immediately upon drafting.

The list of the Rookie Wage scale is at the end of the rulebook.

    ****

The following Rules for determining draft order will prevent tanking and will hold all owners accountable for making sure their lineups are the best they can be.

     Annual Rookie Draft Order

    a)  The rookie draft order will be determined based on the potential points (PP) from the previous season’s final standings except for playoff teams, which will be based on final standings. Using this format, the team with the highest potential points (PP) will pick first and the next highest PP will pick 2nd and so on and so forth. The championship winner will pick 16th in every round, for each conference.

Tiebreakers for situations where teams have the same record are as follows, with the tiebreaker winner receiving the higher numerical pick:

    Conference Winning %

    Division Winning %

    H2H Total points

This will ensure teams don’t tank to get the overall 1st pick of the draft.

If more tie breakers are needed, the following will be used.

    Total points score

  • All Play winning percentage

Finally, if teams are still tied after all the tiebreakers have been exhausted, a coin flip will take place to determine draft position.

-Coin flip(s), will occur(s) 1 hour before the NFFL2K Draft.

    •         If an owner withdraws from the league during the draft, the draft will stop until a new owner is found and begin when the new owner is selected without penalizing the new team.  Or the commissioner will assign an owner to draft for the team until a new owner can be found.

•The draft will last 7 rounds and is Mandatory.

    •         The rookie draft will run 1-16 for each round with the exception of compensatory picks.  So the owner with the first pick will have the first pick throughout the whole draft.

    •         The rookie draft is for players that were drafted in the NFL DRAFT and who are in the MFL DATA BASE. You may not draft rookies who are not in the MFL.com data base. Rookies who went Undrafated are also eligible for the NFFL2K draft.

    •         While there are certain circumstances that may prevent owners from making their draft picks, it is IMPERATIVE that you notify the commissioner in advance that you can not make the pick and attempt to work something out. You can GIVE MYSELF OR THE CO COMMISSIONERS A CALL, TEXT MESSAGE, AND/OR EVEN AN EMAIL STATING YOU CANT MAKE A PICK FOR WHATEVER REASON AND ASK US TO DO IT FOR YOU. Please understand that the circumstances or reasons must be exigent and not minuet such as sleeping in, etc.

     •          Policy for an owner not being able to comply with the salary cap or roster max before the rookie draft will consist of the commissioner removing the last transaction(s) that put the roster in non-compliance.

     •         Teams are encouraged to Pre-Draft whenever they may be away for an extended period of time. That is what the feature is there for.

    •         All draft picks will be assigned to your active roster with their salaries counting towards the cap.

Owners are encouraged to budget a certain amount of money for their draft picks

    Rookie qualifications

Only rookies will be eligible to be drafted. As defined by the NFL CBA, a rookie is defined as a person who has never signed a Player Contract with an NFL Club previous to this year. An undrafted rookie means a rookie who was eligible for, but not selected in the NFL draft. If a player signs a contract and is cut before playing any games, then resigns with another team, he is now a free agent and loses his rookie status.

     Signing your Draft picks

The ORC field on the team roster page is an indication of players that are under their Original Rookie Contract (ORC). An ORC can only be assigned to rookies when their initial contract is assigned following the rookie draft. All ORC contracts can’t be extended or be a full Holdout before their contracts are up. Rookie FA's who are signed after the draft will get an automatic ORC contract of 3 years… ORC’s become RFA's at the end of their contract.  If they are released before their ORC’s expire, they immediately become a UFA.

     Rookie Draft is mandatory.

Teams may not choose to forfeit their pick; you must draft the full 7 rounds.  If you cannot take the time to be prepared for a 7 round draft, you do not belong playing in this league.

    Chapter 18

     Official Stats

Every week, a couple of days after all of the games are final and your fantasy scores have been calculated, the Elias Sports Bureau (which is the official statistician for the NFL) reviews all of the games on tape and sometimes issues official stat corrections if needed.

For example, one of the most common stat changes is when they award a sack to a defensive player that wasn't originally credited with the sack during the game. This can happen when the wrong player's number was written down as part of the official scoring during the game. Another relatively common example is when a passing play is changed to a rushing play (or vice versa) because after reviewing the tape, they determine that the pass was actually a backwards lateral instead of a forward pass.

The myfantasyleague.com website allows us to process stat changes as they are released by the NFL. Any stat changes issued by the NFL will not affect our fantasy game scores if processed after Friday at 9:00 PM.

Any scoring plays/situations that are not specifically handled by our league rules will be decided by following however the website scores the play.

We have decided to apply these stat changes.  It is just common sense, if the NFL stats are changed, then we should be using the corrected stats.

Real time scoring are not official statistics. The official statistics and points will be posted after the week’s games end.

Note: So please do not call me up and ask me why certain points are not showing up on the live scoring, also please take note, the scoring of players has been set up by me. There are some scenarios that I may just not have thought of or it wouldn’t be feasible to do, so if your LB, blocks an extra point and runs it back for a TD, and doesn’t get credit for it,, that’s how it is, you will have to deal with it..

    Chapter 19

    Uncontrolled Events and Implications

    I. Work Stoppage

    1. In the event of a work stoppage, strike, lockout, or anything of this nature in the NFL, our season will freeze along with the standings and statistics.

    2. Our league will resume when the NFL season restarts.

    3. A revision in the schedule, rules and regulations may be necessary to accommodate for the delay.

    4. This revision will immediately be processed and distributed to each football team as soon as possible.

    II. Season Cancellation

    1. Upon official announcement by the NFL of the season being cancelled our league will end the season prematurely. All prize money will be carried over to the following season.

III. Human Error within the League Office

    1. If there was a human error made within the League office all attempts shall be made to retroactively correct the error and its subsequent ramifications.

    IV. Communications

In communicating electronically with other football owners or the league office, there is always a risk of the message not being received by the intended party. It is up to the individual to ensure that their message has been received. This includes all forms of communications, but is not limited to telephones, Mail, Email, and paging.
